It’s a Laugh Productions and Oops Doughnuts Productions are now in pre-production on a brand new multi-camera comedy series titled Liv & Maddie.
The Casting Society of America Artios Award nominated Disney Channel casting directors for the show are hiring actors for recurring, guest starring, and day player roles. The extras will be cast throughout production which begins on April 8, 2013 in Los Angeles. There will be a large number of young actors hired to play high school students, as well as adults to play teachers and parents. The show is set for a Fall, 2013 premiere on Disney Channel.
“Liv & Maddie” centers on identical twin teens Liv, a well-known famous television star whose hit show has just wrapped production, and Maddie, a superlative student and school basketball sensation, whose popularity is on the rise – that is until Liv makes a magnificent return to their Wisconsin high school. Complicating their teenage life even more is that their parents both work at their school. Their father is the basketball coach, while their mother is the school psychologist. The twins also have to contend with their two younger brothers.
The Disney casting team has discovered the next major star for the network in the extremely talented and beautiful seventeen-year-old relative newcomer Dove Cameron. Disney Channel has wasted no time in getting this amazing young lady her starring vehicles. In addition to the starring role playing dual roles of identical twins in “Liv and Maddie,” Dove has recently completed filming the Disney Channel Original Movie “Cloud 9″ starring opposite Young Artist Award winner Luke Benward. Also starring in “Liv & Maddie” are Benjamin King playing the father, Kali Rocha in the role of their mother, with standup comedian Joey Bragg and newcomer Tenzing Norgay Trainor portraying the younger brothers.
John Beck and Ron Hart are the series creators and executive producers, and will be serving as showrunners. The duo worked as consulting producers and writers on the Disney Channel series Shake It Up!, and also co-wrote on the Disney XD series “Pair of Kings”. Beck and Hart came into prominence as executive producers and writers on Disney-ABC Domestic Television’s hit series “According to Jim”. Andy Fickman and Betsy Sullenger will executive produce for Oops Doughnuts Productions, and Fickman will direct episodes for the show. Also executive producing is John Peaslee.
It’s a Laugh Productions, which is a an owned subsidiary of the Disney-ABC Television Group, is producing “Girl Meets World”. The company has produced such Disney Channel shows as “Hannah Montana,” “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” “Jonas,” “Jessie,” “Shake It Up!”, “Good Luck Charlie,” “Dog with a Blog,” and “Girl Meets World” among many others. Don Mink and Amy Rabins founded It’s a Laugh Productions in 2004. Rabins serves as President of the company. The two have also been partners in a company called Prep Shoot Post since 1988, a post-production accounting firm. They also own another production company called Fast Track Films, Inc. (not to be confused with the Florida based company of the same name).

Note: Various directors work different episodes during the season. In television shows composed of individual episodes, the television director’s role differs from that of a film director in that he or she may work only on some television episodes as opposed to the director of an entire film production. In episodic television productions, the major creative control resides with a producer of the show. The television producer with creative control is called the showrunner (in this case, John Beck and Ron Hart).
