Disney Channel casting directors are now auditioning teens to star in the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie "Descendents." The telepic is a live-action adventure-comedy that features the kids of Disney's classic fairytale characters including Fairy Godmother, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, Mulan, Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, Evil Queen, Jafar, Beast and Bella. The auditions are taking place in Los Angeles, and shooting will get underway in Spring, 2015. "Descendents" will premiere on Disney Channel in 2015.

"Descendents" centers on the kids of some of Disney's most evil classic villains, introducing a modern day generation of teenagers who question the evil that's always been in their hearts. Set in a present day idyllic kingdom, where the benevolent teenaged son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle from Disney's Beauty and the Beast) is poised to take the throne. His first proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making offspring of Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar who have been imprisoned on a forbidden island with all the other villains, sidekicks, evil step-mothers and step-sisters. These villainous descendants (Carlos, Mal, Evvie and Jay, respectively) are allowed into the kingdom to attend prep school alongside the offspring of iconic Disney heroes including Fairy Godmother, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and Mulan. However, the evil teens face a dilemma. They must choose to either follow in their nefarious parents' footsteps and help all the villains regain power, or to embrace their innate goodness and save the kingdom.

Three-time Primetime Emmy Award winner Kenny Ortega will direct "Descendents" from an original teleplay written by the two-time Primetime Emmy Award nominated writing team of Josann McGibbon and Sara Parriott. Ortega is no stranger to directing Disney Channel Original Movies. He directed the hugely successful and popular "High School Musical" trilogy, as well as "The Cheetah Girls 2." "High School Musical" is the most successful Disney Channel Original Movie ever. "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" was produced on a budget of $11 million, was released in theaters and made over $250 million at the box office worldwide. Josann McGibbon and Sara Parriott served as executive producers and writers on the hit series "The Starter Wife" and "Desperate Housewives." They have written screenplays for the feature films "The Favor" starring Brad Pitt, and "Runaway Bride" starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.
