I decided to create and maintain this blog in my spare time to help people who are interested in working as a performer in the Entertainment Industry. Two-time Primetime Emmy Award nominated Disney Channel casting director Jason La Padura has signed on as one of the entertainment industry leading instructors at the non-profit acting program Casting Camp 2015, which is now accepting limited enrollment. La Padura is one of the most highly respected casting directors, especially for casting kids and teens. He has been the lead casting director for such Disney Channel shows as “High School Musical”, “High School Musical 2″, “High School Musical 3: Senior Year”, and “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam”. Most recently La Padura cast the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movies “Teen Beach Movie 2″ and “Descendants”. Jason La Padura is currently casting the NBC mini-series “Heroes Reborn”, and will soon be casting the new upcoming CBS television series “Code Black”.
Casting Camp is a non-profit acting program conducted in Los Angeles from June 24, 2015 through June 28, 2015. Additional teaching staff this year includes Chadwick Struck, who has cast such feature films as “Smother” starring Academy Award winner Diane Keaton and Critics Choice Award winner Liv Tyler, “Columbus Day” starring Saturn Award nominee Val Kilmer, “Cabin Fever: Patient Zero” starring Academy Award nominee Sean Astin, and is currently casting the feature film “Behind the Walls”; Ricki Maslar, who was the executive in charge of casting for the CBS television series “Ghost Whisperer: The Other Side”, and has cast such films as “Dahmer” starring two-time Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner, “The Devil’s Tomb” starring Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr., and “Brother to Brother” starring Black Reel Awards winner Anthony Mackie; and Casting Society of America member Mark Tillman, whose numerous television casting credits include “MacGyver”, “Highlander”, “The Andy Dick Show”, “MTV’s Now What?”, and “RoboCop”. Also teaching at Casting Camp 2015 is voice coach Ezra Weisz, who is the live-audience coach for the Disney Channel and Disney XD series “Jessie”, “Austin & Alley”, “Good Luck Charlie,” “So Random”, “ANT Farm”, and “Pair of Kings”.
One of the things that separates Casting Camp 2015 from other acting camps is that they encourage parents to attend the camp for free, with their enrolled kids. Parents can participate in the classes, help their children learn, and also learn themselves about the business of the acting profession. Another aspect of Casting Camp 2015 is that they stress the importance of resume building in the training area, and over the course of the program, talent earn ten different credentials for their resume, then perform in a talent showcase on the final day. Casting Camp was founded by independent producer Greg James Blount, who is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Media Arts. Blount works for companies such as Disney, Nickelodeon, and Universal Studios. Past Casting Camp alumni include Cade Sutton (“Kirby Buckets”), Kira Kosarin (“The Thundermans”), Olivia Osteen (“Spirit Riders”), and Kimmy Caruso (“Dog with a Blog”, Austin & Ally”).
