Disney Channel Games Coordinating Producer/Writer/Editor David Glasgal is currently casting short form content for the upcoming 2011 Disney Channel Friends for Change Games. The Disney Channel Games were not held in 2009 or 2010 as there was a lack of actor availability due to program filming, concert tours, time off and other reasons.
Short form content media segments are generally less then 10 minutes long, and is a method of advertising although the actual programming can be anything from a short infomercial to a mini TV show. Short "professional" videos now account for eight of the 10 most popular video genres, including music videos, movie previews, and TV show clips.
The last Disney Channel Games took place in Summer 2008, with thirty-seven international Disney Channel stars competing in 5 events culminating in a post-Games concert featuring performances by Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, The Cheetah Girls, Demi Lovato and Jordan Pruitt.
The 2008 Disney Channel Games aired in five special half-hour telecasts. The event was filmed at Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Proceeds helped four children's charities: Make-A-Wish Foundation, Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation, UNICEF and Boys & Girls Club of America.
Here is what is currently being cast for the 2011 Disney Channel Friends for Change Games:
• High-spirited and dynamic young men and women who can play Referees.
• Preferably with actual experience as a Referee.
• Must be from ages mid-20's and above.
• Any ethnicity.
• Must be a paid-up member of AFTRA.
